After months of work, Roepke PR lands pre-Emmy event

A glamorous payoff rewarded months of work for Roepke Public Relations in Minneapolis. They got one of their clients, airforce Nutrisoda, made by Ardea Beverage Co. in Hopkins, selected as the official beverage of a Showtime pre-Emmy event, and they didn’t have to pay a fee.

Plus, they got to go to the party, in late August in Los Angeles. “We are so excited. We worked with this company for such a long time,” said Jessica Sachariason, before the event.

But what were they going to wear? “Exactly. Exactly,” she said with a laugh. “That’s the one question that’s been on all our minds.”

After the event, a run-up to the Emmy Awards, they were tired. “We had a lot of great fun,” she said.

It was a lot of work, too, Hollywood-style. The event was at a spa that is “one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s favorite skin clinics,” Sachariason says. Each product company had its own table, and celebrities would visit with their handlers, wearing specific-colored wristbands that entitled them to certain gifts. The product companies would take photographs and try to collect celebrity endorsements.

Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives came in, plus people from The Sopranos.

Sachariason says they didn’t know all the stars because they don’t have time to watch all the shows. “That guy who plays the president on 24, he loves airforce Nutrisoda,” she says. They’re shipping him a case.

“It’s hands-on media relations,” she says, noting other recent coups for Ardea. Persistence is important: “The Today Show just covered airforce Nutrisoda last Friday, and we’ve been working on it since the beginning.” she says. “The next one we want to get is Oprah.”
