Knowledge Marketing
warns clients to adapt
e-mails to new applications

Microsoft’s new e-mail program, Outlook 2007, requires e-mail designers to change their methods, Darin Lynch says. He’s the new chief information officer and vice president of retail business services for Knowledge Marketing in Plymouth, an Internet marketing agency.

“Outlook 2007 reverses the html approaches that designers of e-mails have been using for the last four to five years,” with Outlook 2003, he says. Most importantly, “Outlook 2007 is not going to handle images as the previous version did.”

For example, background colors will not show up as they used to, unless designers incorporate the colors into the actual e-mail.

The bottom line: “If you don’t change your e-mails they will look broken,” Lynch says, adding the company offered $100 off e-mail design services to help customers with the change.
